News report - Upcoming movie

Argentina, France to shot Cortázar’s masterpiece

Brussels (Belgium), August 26, 2010.

Irina Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO, announced that the entity is going to sponsor an upcoming movie based on Julio Cortázar’s novel Hopscotch (Rayuela in the original Spanish title).
The announcement was made in a special place, at a special time: Cortázar was born in Brussels in August 26, 1914, during WWII.
Bokova exalted the Argentinian writer as one of the most criterious translators who ever worked for UNESCO, specially for his translation of Defoe’s and Poe’s works. Accordingly to Bokova, it is expected that the movie be ready “for the celebration of Cortázar’ 100th birthday”.
